It is tantamount to someone dressing up in a crown and robes and then sitting you down to take you through every Facebook photograph they’ve ever been tagged in. It is rarely a joy to listen to and listening to the album on headphones makes it sound claustrophobic. It’s “Yo Gabba Gabba” after hours; an oversexed romp around the playground after a handle of vodka and a blowjob. But it still sounds too crowded to enjoy – at times sounding like a bastardized Disney Channel soundtrack to a kids show (about handles of vodka and blowjobs, of course).
“Maybe you’re a happy-drunk blowjob robot at a carnival made with pixie dust from Mars.”

I reviewed the new Magnetic Fields album and it wasn’t pretty.
